TDS-måling: Er dit vand beskidt eller bare fyldt med mineraler?
Svaret er næsten altid: Nej. Men for at forstå hvorfor, skal vi kigge på, hvad en TDS-måler rent faktisk kan – og især hvad den ikke kan.
What is TDS actually?
TDS stands for Total Dissolved Solids. A TDS meter measures the electrical conductivity of the water. Since pure water (H2O) does not conduct electricity, it is the dissolved substances in the water that create the connection.
Måleren omregner denne ledningsevne til en værdi i PPM (Parts Per Million).
Hvad måler den?
- Minerals: Lime (calcium), magnesium, and potassium
- Salts: Sodium, chloride, and sulphate
- Metaller: Jern, kobber og bly (hvis de findes i store mængder).
Hvad måler den IKKE?
Dette er det vigtigste punkt. En TDS-måler reagerer kun på stoffer, der har en elektrisk ladning (ioner). Den kan ikke detektere:
- Sprøjtegifte og pesticider: Disse er ofte organiske molekyler uden elektrisk ladning.
- Lægemiddelrester: Som f.eks. østrogen eller smertestillende medicin.
- Bakterier og vira: Levende organismer påvirker ikke TDS-tallet.

TDS-måling i forbindelse med hydrogen terapi
This article deals exclusively with TDS measurement in connection with drinking water. TDS is also very important when it comes to hydrogen therapy, but for entirely different reasons.

Myten om “det rene vand” (000 PPM)
Nogle producenter benytter en teknologi kaldet ionbytning. Deres filtre fjerner mineraler, kalk og salte i vandet – men uden at påvise påvirkning af de opløselige stoffer (f.eks. PFAS og pesticider). Det resulterer i en TDS-måling tæt på 000.
Although it looks impressive on a meter, it does not necessarily mean that the water is "healthier". It simply means that the water is close to being demineralized (almost equivalent to distilled water). Many prefer water with minerals (as in Mosel-pitcher), as it gives the water character and taste, while the body benefits from the minerals.
Hvorfor viser Mosel-kanden et højere tal?
Our Mosel pitcher uses an active carbon filter. The primary task of the carbon filter is to remove unwanted chemicals, bad taste, chlorine, and organic contaminants through a process called adsorption.
- The good news: The carbon filter allows the healthy minerals (lime and magnesium) to pass through.
- The result: Since the minerals are still in the water, your TDS meter will show almost the same number as your tap water.
This does not mean that the water has not been purified. On the contrary, it means that the filter has done its job: removed the invisible chemicals but kept the minerals that are naturally found in Danish groundwater.
Experiment: Why TDS can trick you
Imagine two glasses of water:
- Glas A: Postevand med et TDS-tal på 300 (højt indhold af kalk).
- Glas B: Destilleret vand med et TDS-tal på 000, men tilsat en farlig mængde giftige pesticider.
Hvis du kun stoler på din TDS-måler, vil du tro, at Glas B er det reneste og sundeste. Men i virkeligheden er Glas A sikkert at drikke, mens Glas B er livsfarligt.
Conclusion
En TDS-måler er et værktøj til at måle mineralindhold, ikke en garant for fravær af giftstoffer.
